MG Gouf Space-type WIP 5

Started working on the packpack. I made a mount plate out of pla-plate that uses the existing pegs and holes. I used a sharpie to mark the pegs and pressed the plaplate against it to mark where to drill, and where to cut the edges. I'll add magnets to make the connection stronger.

I only filed down one nub, which held down the poly-cap for the original thrusters, other than that the original backpack still fits like normal.

I notched the base plate for the waist-cable mount. It's pretty rough right now, but the mount will sit about there and be hidden behind the main thrusters.

Once I had the base of the backpack, I made a mock up of the rest out of cardboard. I'll probably stare at it for a few days trying to figure out if I like it before I make the final one out of pla-plate. The cardboard template will be a rough guide for how I build the backpack, the changes I might decide to make will most likely be done in plastic instead of another cardboard mockup. I have some ideas for surface details already, but I'm too lazy to do surface details on cardboard.

The waist cable is still one long piece that I'm going to cut in half... eventually... for now it mostly gets draped all the way around the Gouf, which led to an incident at the last build gathering when someone said it was a "cute belt".

And heres more pics of the gatling barrels. The aluminium barrels are noticably lighter.

Here's a single barrel removed from each gat.
